So the HEMIWagon is back in business and running very well and very strong with the new motor. Here's a good look at the level of carnage that occurred inside the original motor.
This is the best image of the carnage on the piston.
If you've got an H-Code HEMI, get your heads done. I was stubborn and didn't want to, and it cost me a lot more in the end. Should have just had 6.1L heads installed and called it a day. This is what the piston should look like:
It just isn't worth being stubborn.

Time for LS swap.

LS? Why would I do something stupid like that?
I've got a fresh HEMI, and she's only going to get a HEMI under her hood. Wouldn't be the HEMIWagon if she had anything else.

Beats me. I thought that's what all the cool kids did nowadays.

Carnage is a pretty accurate description. That looks brutal.

Someday. I only had the time and money to have a fresh and reinforced 5.7L put in.
A 426 backed by a TR6060 is my vision for the final iteration of the HEMIWagon. I want to keep the simplicity of the existing fuel injection, computer, key, etc etc. If it wont be a simple turn-key solution, it wont be what the car gets.
There's no reason to go too crazy with it, because I'll need to reinforce the frame a huge amount to handle the extra torque. It's torquey as is, but a 426 will be a massive upgrade. The rear I know is simply not up to it, but I will have a wavetrac installed by the time I get to that point.

That sounds like the way it should've been originally built!

No amount of reinforcement is going to save the car from the torque of a 426.
I've put about 25k on the 426 in my Challenger, running that thing hard, and you would be amused by the amount of dents/divots/twisting in the C pillars and roof.
It is literally turning the car into a pretzel.
But what a sweet, sweet pretzel it is.

Yeah, but luckily the Magnum has a slightly different frame to Challenger. Theres a reinforcement bar that bolts up underneath the rear jack point areas that really stiffen the car up, Im going to cross that bridge when I get there and we start planning out the car at that point.

The 6.1L head swap removes the valve seat issue, which is the primary motivation for doing the swap.
It would have saved me a big chunk of change...

As someone who used to work at a place that made pistons I can tell you that this has gone completely wrong. There are supposed to be lands and grooves there.
